3D Printing Again
Re-starting the 3D Printing Journey
Several years ago, I was intrigued by the concept of 3D printing, and decided to give it a shot. I bought a XYZPrinting DaVinci 1.0 back then (the cheapest at the time), with proprietary ABS filements in cartridges (how wrong was this). I knew nothing, and after a couple of months, started to struggle printing so much that I eventually gave up - bed levelling is an absolute nightmare on that printer, and the software/firmware is just terrible.
Fast forward to two months ago, where I was surfing Amazon and spotted the Creality Ender 3 Pro on sale for what seemed to me to be an insane price ($200). After doing a little research, I realised this is a very popular and well regarded 3D printer, so I decided to go for it.
Things that appealed to me about this printer:
- reasonable price for the base model
- supports printing with any material including the far easier to print with PLA and PLA+
- highly customizable and well supported for replacement parts
As I’ve been printing and learning, I’ve discovered information on the internet is often incomplete or not applicable to my version of this printer. It’s often been an painful and frustrating experience, and hopefully some of the tips I’ll share on this blog will help others.
Here starts my journey with the Ender 3 Pro.
